How to invert the colours of an image

  1. Add your image. Drag it in, click to choose or paste a screenshot.
  2. Fine-tune. Adjust brightness, contrast and saturation if you like. Switch to B&W for a greyscale negative.
  3. Download. Save the inverted image as a high-quality JPG or a lossless PNG.

What does inverting colours do?

Each colour is replaced by its opposite on the colour wheel: red becomes cyan, green becomes magenta and blue becomes yellow, while light and dark swap places. It is the same as the “negative” effect in photo editors.

Trying to turn an actual colour film negative into a photo? Plain inversion leaves a strong blue cast because of the orange film base. Use our negative to photo converter instead. It removes the mask automatically.
